Whilst reading an excellent Wartime Log from David Lane, http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/prisoners-war/44760-prisoners-lament.html It reminded me of the recent Memorial Day at Sachsenhausen where I was laying wreaths at both the Special Forces memorial and later at Station "Z". The Day was well attended with a lot of victims making their annual revisit. This year the Choir sang several songs including the Sachsenhausen Lied or Sachsenhausen song. It was extremely moving seeing so many singing the song from memory even though it was printed on the programme. Here is a link to the songs words which were composed in 1936 at the camp. Initally approved by the SS and later banned but sung in secret around the camp. Music and the Holocaust:XSachsenhausenlied Regards Tom
