I am reposting because I attempted to edit my first post and deleted too much ! Sorry ! Bear with me please:rolleyes:

Grandad was commissioned (QM Commission) into the R. Leicesters 1 Jun 1940. All his records from then onwards are missing apart from a summary of his war service, which I am piecing together.

His service record lists Infantry Coy Commander 18 months (JUN 40 -DEC 41)
I had some photos which I thought were in Europe..... one is in my album you'll see what I mean..... (It is I discovered last night In Birmingham so this photo does not mean his coy comd was in Europe... hence my delete:eek:)
So as a QM Commission. I would have thought Coy Comd was unusual ... but it was the war. Maybe a TA BN?
Anyone any idea how I can begin to find out ????

    Thank you
    Annie

    1/ "N"th .......Sheringham..... another photo yahay !

    Confused: What is the unit?

Being that he is an officer he should be well recorded in the units war diaries. He'll defo be in the Officer Field Returns if no where else.

    Hi Drew,
sorry the Green Tiger Journals were being coy about the names. They were the 8th Bn formed near Hinkley then went to Sheringham and then became the 1st Bn ......confusing,must get back to the regimental histories

I was born in Leicester and lived there many years, my great-uncle Alf (my gran's brother) was in the Leicesters and was killed in WW1 about 40 years before I was born, I know this is a WW2 forum but here's his pic for the record-
