Evening all, Looking into a soldier, who had a service number in the 23xxxxx range, which google tells me should be RE Signals, is this actually RE or is that a precursor to Royal Corps of Signals? Thanks
RE Signal Service, formed 1908 or thereabouts, became the Royal Corps of Signals in 1920 or 21. Prior to that it was part of RE, providing e g. divisional, corps, Army-level signals, etc.(infantry battalions had their own trained signallers) Cheers, Pat
What are the rest of the numbers ? Army Number Block Allocations Royal Engineers 1842001 - 2303000 Royal Corps of Signals 2303001 - 2604000
