Hoping that someone might be able to help with this:

I'm trying to decipher a service record that states that a Sapper disembarking in Egypt with 14th Railway Bn, Royal Engineers, was posted to GHQ Middle East 'for duty with Tn Tp' and later 'posted for duty with ADO Tn Sudan' ... can anyone tell me what these two sets of acronyms mean?

    Cheers

In October 1941 he is also noted as being posted to 'MC Canal' - grateful if anyone can help with this too ...

Could be Tn Tp be Training Troop?

Tn Tp is Transportation Troops. In effect railways although they did operate ports as well. Both were RE responsibilities.

ADO Tn. A staff appointment, Assistant Director of Operations, Transportation. Running the railway.

    Skip,

MC. Movement Control. Another RE/staff responsibility. Most usually on railways but also Inland Water Transport, canals. I suppose this was the Suez canal.
