Not the best of pictures; The FWD SU COE utilises an Airfix chassis and rear body with wheels from BW and the cab kindly supplied by a friend. The trailer and Armoured Bulldozer are both excellent models from Milicast. This ensemble is 15 Scottish Div RE Fld Park Co .
The Scammell R100 is another great kit from Milicast, The 20 ton low loader is one of Mike's now sadly missed TRUX range, The dumper is from Matador Models with the ground breaking object and other bits and pieces from the odds & ends boxes.
    Decals from Mike Starmer.
Once I get my head round some markings the Scammell ensemble will be either a road construction or mechanical equipment Co of 21st Army Group.

Excellent work Ted!! You have done an extremely good job on those models.....well done. Can we expect to see them in a little vignette maybe?

    cheers,

Hi Neil, I wish I had room for one; I think the answer might be to make one and then use it a a photographic base .

Very nice Ted. I am a bit slow in replying as I have been looking for a copy of a handbook of RAF plant and machinery which I was sure I had in the attic. I have not found it yet and it is getting cold up there now.

All military mechanical equipment is greatly neglected in reference material, research, models etc.

In the meantime I will post the Trux Handbook on 6x4 3ton lorries. Lots of ideas for conversions. Even I never made them all.

Thanks for sharing the 6x4 handbook, there are 2 nice views of the later Leyland retriever on the Dundee City archives website. By the Command Group marking, it was obviously from RAF Montrose and as it was in the Angus Police folder it must have been attending an off base incident as its towing a fuel trailer.

I could send down a small space heater to facilitate a continued search of your attic LOL

    Very nice photos Ted.

I knew my weak excuse for not continuing my search would not work.

Returning to the theme, there is an excellent Pathe news film about the construction of an Advanced Landing Ground in France, it now appears on Youtube making screen grabbing a lot easier. I will post a link and some grabs. firstly a MACK NO of an RE road construction Co AOS 310. all the plant in use is marked 310.

I have just tracked down a kit of one of these graders; its by a USA company Woodland Scenics; after hours on google I found a stock of one at an on line UK model company. its 1/87th but I am sure I will be excused for loading it onto one of my trailers

Looks very much like the one from Roco in HO scale (1:87) from the sixties (then Roco-Peetzy, from Austria). This one had a roof. I think I must have one somewhere ...

Until very recently I had a ROCO example- i dropped it and then reversed the desk chair over it- i think the ROCO example was a post WW2 variant and possibly a bit larger; once i get it I will let you know

I have spent many hours over the weekend looking for some photos which I have seen before of some RE plant & Transport - it is a series of about 3 photos showing an RB crane, dumper and dozer in a snow covered road in (I think) Holland , the plant is accompanied by Scammell & Matador tractors & trailers BUT I CANT FIND THEM.!
Photos of Engineer Equipment are not too rare but photos of them on trailers seem to be quite rare, here are a couple, first a Canadian misshap then a US airfield construction unit which must have taken a lot of stopping

    Very nice.

Who let a Diamond T with trailer and heavy dozer onto a Class 40 Bailey Bridge? A HUGE NO NO.
