Hi all, been researching incidents in my local area during WW2 and have come across the incident when six members of a bomb disposal team of the Royal Engineers were killed/died of wounds following an attempt to defuse a bomb at Brook Farm, Alvaston (near Nantwich, Cheshire). I have taken my research as far as I can go, regarding the men and the local reports etc. but does anybody know if there are official documents that can be downloaded to further help me please. Thanks for reading, best wishes, Mark.

PS The names of the men who died are: 4270436 Sapper Albert Edward Fearon, 2094019 Sapper Michael Lambert, 7895135 Sapper George Lucas and 2001843 Sapper Harold Walter Thompson. 1895467 Sapper John Perrins died of his wounds on August 18 and 2210433 Sergeant Edward Joseph Greengrass, a day later.

Try the RE casualty cards on findmypast. All reported by OC 10th King's Regt and taken to Nantwich Cottage Hosp. Chester.

LUCAS, THOMPSON, PERRINS and GREENGRASS all died from wounds (details of injuries are given) and possibly FEARON and LAMBERT may have died instantly.
