    Hi,
Can anyone help with my grandads records please.

1HAA regt when he disembarked in Sicily 27/8/43
What was the classified action he was involved in from 10/4/44
Then he was posted to X(4) RATD (I gather this to be a when your injured/not well and that RATD is Royal artillery training dept i think)
He opted to stay for another year and was posted to India (what is RAJPN)

Any other info would be greatly appreciated as these are very difficult to decipher

    Regards

Opened your pdf . Took a screen snap of it.

RAJPN is just a draft code.
    Draft recognition codes.

I don't think the entry at 10/4/44 is a Classified action, I think it is a qualification or attendance on a course and the entry reads 'Classified. Cl(ass) 1A.'

Good explanation of the 'X' codes here: XlistWW2 | WW2Talk

X(2) is injury/illness, X(4) refers to 'unposted reinforcements' - so in Feb 45 he left 1 HAA and became part of the general pool of RA personnel available for posting to any artillery unit requiring reinforcements. He then seems to be retraining for a field artillery role. The entry for 7/4/45 looks like 'Transfers to RA (Field) X(4) (a) RATD', moving him specifically to a field artillery reinforcement pool.

The 5/5/45 entry appears to say 'Attended 25 pdr Gunner ??? Course' and the one on 2/6/45 'Attended 25 pdr Gunner Refresher Course'.

Then on 14/6/45 he was Taken On Strength of 53rd Field Regiment - but seemingly not for long as he was Struck Off Strength a couple of weeks later for repatriation.

Other sheets of the service record can sometimes give more small clues when they are all read together.
