    SERGEANT JOHN R. PORTAS, ROYAL ARTILLERY

    Sergeant John ('Jack') R. Portas, 950300.

    He was from the South London area and enlisted into the Royal Artillery in 1939. He escaped at Dunkirk and received a Mention-in-Dispatches citation (1945, NW Europe).

    John Portas married Mary in 1943 and emigrated to Perth, Australia in the 1970s where he set up a successful civil engineering business. He died in 2006 and he and Mary are buried in Denmark, W Australia.

    Hello! This is my granduncle Richard Redwin. Thank you for posting this!!! I have luckily came across this as I have just started to research him.

    Do you happen to know what happened to all these brave men on 9 April 1941? Not having much luck for his war record.
