    ROLLING AT MINE?

Back in the 70's while doing an AT course we were shown film of a weird British AT mine. This consisted of a metal sphere that appeared to be about 3 feet (don't do metric yet) in diameter with small rockets fixed in its outer surface. The mine would be "fired" on the approach of enemy tanks being driven towards them by the ignition of some of the rockets, it would come to rest briefly after which more rockets would be fired. This occured in a random manner causing the mine to zig-zag toward the enemy armour, or such was the theory. In the film the mine came to rest against a tree and then began to return back in the direction from which it came, laughs from the audience but not nice for the "firer". Presumably the centre of the sphere contained a multiple shaped charge detonated by some type of capacitance fuze.

Does anyone have any further info. on this contraption? I think it was developed by DARDE.
