    Hello,
I'm trying to get hold of any information on Parachute course 126, which ran from 24th July to 4th August 1944.
My Father was a member of this course and I would love any information on the course and hopefully someone, somewhere will have a group photograph too.
My Father was Pte Arthur Wood 14002827 7th (L.I) Btn Parachute Regiment

    Thanks Guys
    All the best Geoff :poppy:

Course reports are held at Airborne Assault at Duxford and it is possible to get a copy for a fee I believe...however most of them are not that detailed, normally just a few words like average student, confident jumper etc.
I don't think they have many course photos though...
Hope this helps in some small way

    Hi Geoff,

I sent you an email some time ago (not sure if you got it?) considering the possibility that your Father may have made it to Normandy. From the date of his jump course that doesn't seem very likely ... ? I noticed this change for the location of the Battle/Tactical School on ParaData:

In March 1944 the Battle School closed, the Holding Unit was moved to Clay Cross, while a new preliminary Battle/Tactical School was set up at Dore and Totley. The Selection Company and Depot Administrative Unit remained at Hardwick.

Your Father may have done his parachute training in the same area. If you go here (online PDF) Bob Butcher on page 6 recalls his time in the area. Not very helpful I know, but we grasp at straws.

    Cheers ...

    Hi Geoff.
My grandfather was on that course too. He was in 7 para also. His name was Albert Breen, he was in mortar platoon , hq company, so I suspect they knew each other! Any luck with any pics? Or do you have any pics from his service in 7 para?
