I'm searching for any information however big or small on my granddad.

His name is David Kerr and was born in 1922.

I've got a wedding photograph (enclosed) [IMG]

I think the cap badge is that of the Rifle Brigade, but not entirely 100%

The marriage certificate tells me that he was married in March 1944 at the age of 22 and was a member of H.M. Forces in Tuxford,
    Nottinghamshire.

If anyone can help I would be most grateful.

The photo's not displaying on my work PC, but Tuxford is not a million miles (about 5 actually) from Ranby, which was the home of No. 2 Motor Training Battalion. This was the Rifle Brigade's training centre, so it adds a little weight your theory.

If your grandmother was local, it's possible he may have been staff rather than 'passing through'. This is all speculation, though, getting his service record is the only way to be sure. I'll try to dig out the link later.

    Good evening,
My father was at Retford - also known as Ranby - having left Italy under Operation Python. Unfortunately he is no longer with us, so we cant ask, but I think there are some enteries in the RB chronicles which I will look at over the next couple of days. I do have a map of the camp if you would like it.
My mum also moved up there to be with Dad and worked at the local mill.
Do you have any more information on him?
    Have a good evening.
    Phillip
