research for a mate...

    looking for info on Pvt D O'Connor,14692353,8th Battalion Para Reg for a mate(it was her grandad)possibly ex Staffords?
    The family believes he went into Normandy in the D-Day drop,but i'm unsure?
    any info gratefully received!

    i did mention that to her,but he's only just recently died and the family are still upset so i thought i'd try to to a bit for them.

    Hi Allan,

    Private D. O'Connor was in C Company of 8th Parachute Battalion, he was in Normandy and I believe he did jump, taking off in a Dakota from Blakehill. If you contact Duxford they will have information on his training jumps.

    brilliant!i saw some notes in her family archive and it only gives his service in NW Europe from Aug 44 so thought he may have been part of the r-enforcement of 6th Airborne
