    Just found another then picture. Looking at the one above it looks like it was taken just outside the tunnel.

    Drew;
    looking at your picture of the Rhine. I can now see why we took so many casualties from the high ground on the Erpel on the East bank.

    I used to live in Sinzig just up the road, while rebuilding Bundestrasse 9 passed the ruins of the bridge every day

    This has been an excellent thread to read through with some great photos. I like Andy's photos from Life very much. Excellent material to use in getting some 'then and now' shots this October. Looking forward to going even more now!

    A very nice, old American documentary on the bridge. It's got quite a line up of contributors and is well worth a view.

    I've read the book. It's not bad but it is a little bit of a 'dry' read. I've also seen the film and frankly I didn't like it too much. I can't remember why but I do remember not even finishing the movie. Perhaps this weekend I'll give it another shot and let you know why I thought it stunk.

    Have fun!

    Terrible acting was my biggest recollection. Not the finest performances from Ben Gazzara, George Segal or Robert Vaughn.
