    Hi

I wonder if anyone is familiar with these two books. I do recognise that the Trevor Royle book is readily available and presumably possessed by many members of the site. The second is less frequently available on sale (though possessed by the IWM), but is more specific to the 6th Battalion which is my particular interest. The question is whether the detail in the Cossar volume is sufficiently more detailed for the 6th Battalion to make it worth the considerable additional cost. Sadly I am too far from the IWM to examine their copy! If anyone is familiar withe titles any advice would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

    Pete

I have the second book, I haven't read it though, just used it for reference on specific actions - if you want anything checked or sections scanned (within reason) I'm happy to help

That's very generous of you Alistair. Off the top of my head I would certainly be interested to know if it contained much information about the post-war period, 1945-46. I suspect my uncle, who served in the 6th was traumatised by experiences in dealing with displaced persons (Russian / Ukrainian / Georgian perhaps) in the aftermath of the war.

    Cheers
