I hope it turns out to be a new lead for you Nick. Of course it is DaveB who came across the article in 2011 and sent it to me, so it is down to Dave really. Good luck going forward with your research.

Fair comment Skoyen. In that case it's going to take quite a while to do that. There are lots of sheets, mostly just attestation papers, some of which are duplicated with extra information here and there - some from the TA and some from the Army 'proper'. I didn't even photograph or scan in those for my friend whose father it was other than the smaller scans. But what you and Tullybrone said is fair comment and I can appreciate and respect what you both said. Leave it with me please.

I won't know with absolute certaintly if it's right or not until I hear back from my friend, bamboo. Everything looks right except that middle name - I've asked him before if his father had a middle name and he said not to his knowledge but the rest of it makes such perfect sense that maybe we've discovered something else he didn't know. :-P

And DaveB, if you're still here and reading, thank you very much too. As bamboo rightly says, if it wasn't for you sending him the clipping, we'd never have known. Obviously the Australian press printed what, as far as I've been able to discover thus far, the British press didn't! :smug:
