Have noticed on a couple of head stones the spelling of sargeant/sarjeant. these seem to be new repacements are they not checked before being put in place?

came across a war grave with 3 serbian soldiers died on different dates in 1918. just seem along way from home, how did they end up here ? cant find any thing on them.
