I am researching a friend's sapper father. Family lore is that he was seconded to the Paris Fire Brigade at the end of the war. There is no mention of this in his service record. Is this likely to have happened? Thanks for any help.
I have no proof, but I am sure that it happened. When the war ended the work of the engineers didn't stop. If fact they were busier than ever. It was a time of rebuilding so I can see him being loaned out.
