Couple of flashes of lightening and a few rumbles of thunder, then a tiny drop of rain just enough to wet the pavements and that's it. Still very warm and humid here in Lincolnshire. Oh dandelion and burdock, used to love that as a kid.
Are we allowed a tune on this thread ? Its definitely on topic. I used to really enjoy playing this in a crowded pub back at the turn of the Century. Especially on a night like this.
No straw and I put the ice cream into the drink, not t’other way round. I have clearly failed, there are no excuses, only shame.
Dandelion and Burdock aplenty down sarf, but I could not stand the stuff. Cidrax and Peardrax sound vaguely familiar but I can’t recall if I ever had any. On the cider front, though, I recall very fondly cider lollies and the equally delicious cherry brandy ones too. What a treat they were on a summer Sunday afternoon when tonibell came round! Those or an oyster . Enjoy:
Sat here in Battle of Britain county and some water has just fallen from the sky. 'Rain' I believe they call it. It's been so long I forget.
Hot sticky scenes You know what I mean Like a desert sun That burns my skin I've been waiting For her for so long Open the sky And let her come down. Here comes the rain Here comes the rain Here she comes again Here comes the rain
The heat has gone and probably the summer as well. I will probably be "Hull Down" for a while due to family commitments so might not be around for a while but we will see. Our Granddaughter will be two on Friday. We never thought we would get here during the dark days of winter when she spent six month in a Cancer Ward with AML. We don't think about small children who cannot talk, suffering and unable to tell mummy or the staff what is wrong. See Our Poppy Pictures page 6 from last Remembrance Day postings when we first found that she had it. Its early days but she has enjoyed several very happy and pleasant holidays since going into remission in June. Her hair is growing back thick and fast. It is really all thanks to Cancer Research and the Children's Cancer Wards in Nottingham Queens Medical Centre. She took part in an experimental drug trial which I believe came from the QE Medical Centre in Birmingham along with Birmingham University Researchers. What a wonderful job our NHS does. We never hear about the good things that these people do and think Cancer, particularly Leukaemia, is only for old folks and not babies. It always happens to someone else. I also appreciate the opportunity of coming here to keep my mind on other things, particularly late at night when things get tough. Its not only my ageing Husky that keeps me awake. I hope that I haven't annoyed too many people. Thanks for this fun thread. It made a light hearted break. Appreciate it greatly. See you soon on other threads maybe.
You carry on mate We all bang on and get on. Hope all continues well its difficult but Dont look where you have been look where you are going
You’ve not annoyed anyone - and it is a jolly thread, without it and your reference to Cidrax, I doubt I’d have found myself dreamily listening to the Tonibell tune earlier. Ahhh, happy days Take care and to the next time!
Nooooo. Iced tea, yep, iced coffee, why, the very idea. I often have words with myself, by the way, but usually when I’ve forgotten to take my tablets.
As I said on another thread. Very warm today at the Remembrance Parade in Bath. Could feel the heat of the sun on my left cheek. Many of the Cadets had to sit down due to feeling the heat. St John's Ambulance chaps were busy. Far too warm for mid-November. Felt more like September.
Ditto at the Cenotaph today in London. A cloudy start to the day meant a coat was required, but by 11am I was overdressed but marched on regardless.
Bloody warm this week . UK heatwave: Why is it so hot in September? UK heatwave: Hottest day recorded as thunderstorms warning in some areas
It's been sultry where I am too, warmest September I've ever seen here in Mass of Juices. I don't mind, I like summer.
