I recently spent a week in Normandy visiting the area for the first time. I spent the day at a petting farm just north of Bayeux away from the beaches with the wife and kids. Chatting to the owner he explained that the farm was taken over during the liberation by the British Army, being used as a logistics depot and he showed me some names scratched into some brickwork on a barn. He was very interested to try and find out more information as he knew nothing. As a complete novice I believe they may have been from the 105th Field Bakery RASC. I have searched the national archives and can find no reference to the 105th Field Bakery. I am perhaps thinking they may have been attached to another battalion. Is there anybody that could help shed a bit more information regarding the names and details or suggest anywhere I could research more.
