We have been researching my wife's Granddad, Dvr Ward Freeman, Royal Signals (see my separate thread) and found this photo of him with some chums. Incredibly, Ward has written their names on the reverse. They are:
Back Row (L/R): L/Cpl Elsom, Driver Pickett, Driver Jackson, Driver Freeman, Coms Donaway
Front Row (L/R): Cpl Scales, Driver Garrett.
Extras: Driver Boy & Sergeants Mess Boy

Suspect this was taken around 1942-45 as this was when Freeman arrived in Egypt and served with PAIFORCE, 9 Air Formation, 8th Army and 4 Air Formation.

Its a long shot but hopefully someone may recognise a relative. Good Luck!!

    Hi,

    Thanks for sharing.

I think I can make out that several men are wearing the ribbon of the Africa Star which would date the photo to around early 1944 onwards as that was when the campaign medal was authorised and the ribbon started to be issued.
