In my collection i have some 52 original negatives of the East Surrey Regiment [ 2/5th Battalion at first ] in training in Kent, they were taken by R.T.Neale who joined the East Surrey Regiment on 14th October 1916, he was sent to France on 15th Sept 1917 and sent back on 6th Nov 1917 and became an officer on 1st march 1918.
He was sent to India on the 29th July 1918.
Where would i find his army number and his short service in France.
There are two photos of him with and with out his gas mask on as a L/Cpl.
I don`t know the town in Kent that are in two of the photos.

R T Neal references that I can find:

    R . T . Neal in the UK, British Army Lists, 1882-1962
    Name: R . T . Neal
    Military Year: 1945
    Regiment: Royal Army Pay Corps
    Rank: Capt
    This covers his period 1939 - 1945

All UK, WWI Service Medal and Award Rolls, 1914-1920 results for R T Neal
    Name: R T Neal
    Military Year: 1914-1915
    Rank: Private
    Medal Awarded: 1914-15 Star
Regiment or Corps: Royal Army Medical Corps
    Regimental Number: 44545
BUT this cannot be him as he has a 14 - 15 Star and your man did not enlist until 1916

Thats why any additional info will help

This is a very confusing one

The only one I can find at present is:
Reginald T Neale in the British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920
    Name: Reginald T Neale
Regiment or Corps: 2/6th K L'pool R, Indian Army Reserve of Officers
    Regimental Number: 88498, 88498
    30850_A001140-02365.jpg

It seems he starts as a Pte then ends up in May 1918 as a 2nd Lt in Indian Army, but his regiment is not right unless he changed from East Surrey to KLR

Not quite, it's the A253 looking to where the Monkton roundabout is now. The junction comprises of what is now Orchard Lane (to St. Nicholas) on the left and Monkton Street (to Minster) on the right, now blocked off to traffic.
The photographer had his back towards Sarre.

    Regards,

    JackW
