    Welcome aboard !

    But as for

Could you kindly translate that into English for me ? :) :) :)

    Ron

Ron, you are not alone, I struggled to understand:

LOL yeah a fag is totally different here LOL ROFLMAO
after looking it up, I discovered 'ROFLMAO' means: 'Rolling on Floor Laughing My Ass Off'

    Even Owen is at it:

    No chance mate, ex-STAB me
    What does that mean?

    Confused,
    Tom.

    Hi Ranger,
Welcome aboard. Very pleased to hear you are an American who shares a wider interest in WW2 knowledge.
You might have to put up with some of us Brits trying to understand your 'lingo', especially some of our older and highly esteemed members.
We could tie you in knots with Cockney rhyming slang and British colloquialisms but I doubt we will!;)
I am a fairly new member here myself and truly appreciate the serious historic research some of the fine members have carried out. Some here are fairly old-fashioned types (nothing wrong with that) and don't do too much text talk, complicated acronyms etc (although I am sure many do, just not on this site).
So bear with us, we value your input (sorry if I am trying to represent the site as a whole).
    Best regards mate,

    Mike:)

    Hi Ranger 6
Good to see another person from the USA. Its great to have a range of people on these forums.
I spent some time in Kuwait in 2003 so appreciate your PXs a lot. Pity we cant use the UK ones though I have used some of the facilities at Lakenheath and Mildenhall having a military pass to make it easy to get on.
I love the ROFLMOA meaning will have to remember it and use it... Military people are so good at the weird and wacky!

    Hi Ranger and welcome.
I spent some time at Haditha dam in 2007 with the USMC, great blokes and looked after me as though I was one of their own.

Just to translate a S.T.A.B. is a Territorial Army Soldier, like the US National Guard (Stupid T.A. B@stard - not to be confused with an A.R.A.B. - Arrogant Regular Army B@stard) I Was an ARAB attached to the STABS for a while!

Edited to add: I disagree with the fact that John Wayne won WW2, I was always under the impression it was Audi L Murphy !

That would be Audie L. Murphy. ;)

You can say what you please about Wayne, but do you really make yourself feel good ragging on someone who earned his accolades the hard way? While you are at it, how about chewing on Ron, Sapper or one of the other good men who also saw the elephant?

Well Done to you Jeff and the others for sussing him out - I always thought he was a bell end.

Do keep us posted on any sentence he gets. I guess its a shame it won't be to Fort Benning.

    Regards
    Andy

My faith in the language skills of the US officer class is restored ;).

We can abandon his little backroom thread now I suppose.
Must think of a new user title & signature. Something similar to that other nerk's.

Will pin thread to improve visibility, as there seems a possibility of more direct kinds of fraudulence.

I've just read all through this thread trying to work out how a transatlantic colonial learned to spell "Arse" correctly, only to find that our esteemed moderators added that bit.

So? Link's in the clink then ?

I'm not sure if I had come across him. These cads seem to avoid 1940.B)

As many may know I became friends with this piece of crap:mad: and even defended him when he was first accused of telling lies over at ww2f, not only do I feel like a bloody idiot:( but my trust in those that come to the forums such as this and ww2f........ claiming that they have been here and done this when at times it can not be verified has been surely dented.I have posted the link in ref to the scamming article on this disgrace to his country, Facebook page;) for all to see, I await the response with much intrest!

You are so right, Adam. His behavior was embarrassing to me, although I could not believe that an Army officer, mustang or not, would have been tolerated by the other men when acting like this buffoon did.

Don't worry about it, we've all been cocked up at one time or another. SouthwestPacificVet certainly set his hook in me deeply.

I still want to meet up with the grandson in a dark alley sometime.

Jeff, those of us who look for double entendres in every situation would be very careful about posting a comment like that on the internet.
