Hello, I am looking for raid reports for 512 squadron similar to those posted in this thread http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/airborne/51352-glider-pilot-help.html I downloaded the ORB appendices for 512 from TNA but could not find anything similar within it. Have I got the right document or does such a thing exist for this squadron? Thanks Dave
Hi DPas, Have a look at my RAF files at Kew some do have Raid Reports and some not, 512 so far doesn't, all I have is ORB Cheers Tom
Thanks Tom. GPs at Arnhem do not have the glider chalk number I am looking for and neither did the nice folks at Middle Wallop. I am guessing that Raid Reports is the source they would have used to get his info if it existed, but just thought I would double check in case they used a different source and that was the reason for their exclusion.
Hi DPas, There is another way to find out if you know of any Soldier that was wounded on the glider you seek... You can look at the MIA files which list most if not all of the MIA Soldiers with chalk numbers crews loads and the like... Or pm with a name to see if I can help... Cheers Tom

They both got there safe and sound. The Museum of Army Flying were able to give me a range 243 to 262. That will have to do!!! FYI- 1st Pilot Henry Charles Taylor (KIA 25th Sep 1944) and 2nd Pilot John Wetherall (AKA Grandad!) (POW - Horsapassenger passed on his POW questionnaire) I think I have everything I can get my hands on at this stage but I will stick up an inventory of all materials in a new thread soon in case anyone has any other ideas. Thanks again, Dave
Dave I can confirm that the ORB's for 512 Sqn don't contain any Glider Raid reports. The Chalk numbers you refer to (243 to 262) relate to 1st Borders. There are no manifests for Gliders in this numerical series in WO 361/630 The Border Regt PWE Casualty enquiries. I attach a list of tug aircraft that towed the gliders in the series 243 - 265 giving details of the 512 Sqn RAF crew It might be worth an enquiry to the Border Regt Museum at Carlisle just in case they have any information about load lists John
