Before the display One Red Arrow came into land and parked up. Then after the Red Arrows had displayed it took off on it's own.
Sorry about the quality as it was taken thru heat haze at a big distance.

That would be Red 10 the Red Arrows road manager and commentator and in the second seat Circus 10. Each Hawk carries an engineer. It appears that Phil also films the display. Squadron Leader Bagnall mentioned his Hawk 'parked up' in his commentary.

The Red Arrows may have been a bit muted to the more experienced eye, but they're still bloody good, mental even. The sprogs were grinning massively while watching them.

I remembered the childhood feeling of wondering why there weren't plumes from crashed Hawks (Gnats) all over the horizon after some of their more extreme tricks...

Are all the Red Arrows Hawks two seaters?

    Yep, they sure are.
    Two reasons...
    1) they are trainer aircraft so would be pretty useless without the instructor on board :p

    2) each pilot can carry an engineer with them for ease of support in case they have an unexpected landing and get separated from the mother ship for any reason

The big Yank UAVs surprised me with their size.
Obviously I'm a bit dim, as naturally they have to be full size to carry heavy bombs, missiles etc. But I'd somehow got it into my head that they were small things - They aint.

The entire hanger full of UAV projects was an interesting phenomenom; the encroaching death of manned fixed-wing military flight?

I screwed up rather royally with most of my shots, as I'd not cleaned my camera properly for a year or so and the sensor had attracted some nasty dust and hair - only handful of usable aerial shots are rather severe crops that exclude all the rubbish from the frame, but come with all the loss of sharpness associated with cropping - bugger!

Hoohum - Let that be a lesson to me... A fun hour spent with an airbrush and some Isopropyl for me.
