RAF & USAAF WW2 aircraft crashes in the now UAE

    In Tribulus, the journal of the Emirates natural History Group, Vol. 25 (in 2017), there two articles on aircraft crashes in the territories known as the UAE (in WW2 Trucial States, with independent rulers and the UK handling some matters - from memory). Both papers have a number of references to what is an obscure matter.

    Pleased to know the Pilot ordered the crew to use parachutes when they bailed-out ! :whistle:

    Some details of the three planes (missed in first post):
    They were buried near the crash site and the graves were lost when searched for later. Part of the plane was recovered and the locals used the metal to make pots & pans.

    None of the dead appear here.

    There is very little known about 244 Squadron. For 244 Squadron only one thread: The loss of U 533 to an aircraft of 244 Squadron. 16th October 1943 There were two websites which covered them, both are no longer functioning alas.     The USAAF lane was in service with the 19th Photo Squadron of the 11th Photo Group and the USAF plane's crew were:
    I have not researched the 19th Photographic Squadron.
