Hi All, I'm new to this site, but I'm looking for help regarding accessing all ORBs (Operational Record Books) of Squadrons under RAF 100 Group, Bomber Command - 192 RAF Foulsham 214 RAF Oulton 223 RAF Oulton 171 RAF North Creake 199 RAF North Creake etc All Squadrons under RAF 100 Group were stationed during WWII in Norfolk, their work kept very secret. I saw a link on here while browsing from someone who can access these files through the National Archives, and I can't find where that link is since I joined the Forum. Can anyone help me please? FairLady
I can help with 23 and 192. You can access 462 RAAF ORB online from the NAA website. naa.gov.au . One of the forum members on the Stirling Aircraft Society website has the 199 ORB... stirlingaircraftsoc.raf38group.org Alan
FYI: someplace on http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/ someone has compiled a list of ALL ORBs to be found on line. Outrageously good resource. Damned if I can find it right now. Will edit it in here later if I do find it... Sigh. http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=18817
Hi both, Eternally grateful for your help and support in this. Alan, I would be grateful if you could please tell me how I obtain the 23 and 192 you spoke of, and I'll certainly try the other link you have shared. I'll wait to hear from you on the first two Squadrons. Thanks. Fred, I've tried the link at the bottom of your response, but the only relevant one I can see is 141 Squadron. I haven't yet tried the link but I will tomorrow. However, this isn't the link I saw. It was by someone called 'Andrea'????? But there was another who offerred to obtain any ORB at a price considerably lower than the National Archive. I happened on this site by chance, having had a no-go with the National Archives, but when I went to 'Sign-Up' on this site, I lost the thread of where I was looking. My query therefore still stands. Is there anyone out there who might help me find the remainder ORBs relating directly to RAF 100 Group, who flew above the bombers as a very secret group during the war, identifying and jamming enemy radar as its principle task alongside other secret missions including working with the USAAF, SODs and SOE. Look forward to hearing more from you ... and thanks again both Alan and Fred for coming back to me. Your help in this is truly valued. FairLady
The person you are after, for copying ORB's will be Andy, he goes under the username of Drew5233 on this forum, and he provides an excellent service, i know, as he's done a couple for me. As for 23 and 192 ORB's, i have those in my collection, what is it you need in the way of information. Alan.
Hi Alan Thanks for coming back to me about ORBs relating to Squadrons under RAF 100 Group. I am basically needing the whole day-to-day diary of each, but more specifically, the Operations and all information relating to those Operations in which they were involved. Some of these Operations are still secret, under a 100 Year Rule. I appreciate that. But I would welcome having copies of what information there is, particularly for 192 which was the lead Squadron in the Group and went out in all weathers. It was on their information that all other Squadrons under this Group were actioned. Look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, FairLady
Hi Alan Just to say I have sent a PM to Andy to see if he can help at all with there being so many ORBs I'm after. I'll keep you in the loop and let you know what comes. Thanks again for your help and support in this. FairLady
