    Took off 0415 hrs Bircham Newton to escort Hudson’s of 206 Squadron from Borkum to the mouth of the Ems. P/O. Ryan lagged behind the leader and was attacked by two Me109s and was shot down by Oblt Emmerich of II(J)186 at 0830 hrs. The Blenheim was seen to disappear into the sea off Schiermonnikoog by the air gunner of a Hudson.
