    Hi,

Hopefully this is a quick question but could someone please confirm what the red chevrons are on the sleeve of this jacket please?

I have done some searching and believe they are either good conduct chevrons or for serving overseas? I had also seen references to the overseas chevrons being a different colour so wasn't sure.

If they are indeed for the above would that be one stripe for each year served? Or are they something different?

    Thanks

    Steve

Service stripes were worn on the lower left arm to indicate years of service, each red stripe indicates 1 years service during 1940 to 1945, and the white shows that your served before the war started

    Ah, thank you very much!

That would make sense, it was my Grandad's jacket and he joined in 1942. I didn't realise they only went up to 1945 which is why I wondered if they were the overseas chevrons.

Appreciate the quick reply! I am still sorting through a few bits so may have more questions!
