    Hi Matt,

Interesting story shown on Chalk Living History blogsite about Sgt. Norman Beasley, RAF Glider Pilot.

I agree with you :- E Squadron, 2 Wing Glider Pilot Regiment.

Have you suggested to Melvyn that he writes to David Brook, editor, GPRA, Eagle Magazine: David himself a GPR Veteran, might be able to help with events that took place at Mushroom Farm. I feel certain that David would be happy to include an enquiry article in the GPRA Eagle magazine, together with the photograph of Sgt. Norman Beasley alongside the other Glider Pilots in the hopes of a possible response re. identification.

Other 'GPR nuts' might be along shortly offering their help .....

In the meantime, all the best to Melvyn with his research.

Perhaps the Museum of Army Flying might be able to supply you with information also. There is a charge for this service (£20).

Many thanks Lindsay and Dpas, I did of course point Melvyn in the direction of GPRA Eagle and Middle Wallop but I had already suggested that I try some you chaps on here also just to see if anyone knew more about RAF GP's etc.

I think its fantastic that so many people are trying to trace relatives who served the GPR! Lets hope they keep coming.

I think the photo is from HGCU.

Mushroom Farm was 'home from home' for 2nd OBLI.

E Sdn carried OBLI and RUR to LZ O from Birch:

    B8 2nd Ox & Bucks E 33 Horsa Chalks 31–63

    B10 1st RUR 27 Horsa Chalks 94–120

    Will do some more research.

Meanwhile, please point Melvyn towards our Facebook page and suggest he consider applying for Associate Membership of the GPRA.
