Smudger Jnr Our Man in Berlin

A few weeks ago I took some photographs at the Luftwaffe Museum, Gatow, Berlin after spotting a freshly placed Poppy Wreath on the RAF Gatow Memorial Stone regarding the Airlift.

The freshly renovated plane (originally Gate Guardian) is now located Close to the Control Tower.

September 6th and 7th will be the Annual Open day, but has been brought Forward slightly to coincide with the Handing over of RAF Gatow, back to the German Government, on 7th September 1994.

To mark the 20th Anniversary the Curator of the Museum has been visiting the UK and making contact with RAF Veterans and I have been informed that at least 30 have responded that they will be attending.

It looks like being a Special Weekend if anyone is visiting Berlin around that time.

There is no entrance fee and besides the Excellent Museum exhibits there are many attractions and Displays over the two days.
