Hello I am new to the forum, but have been visiting for some time! I am researching my Great Uncle who was a Gunner 250th Battery of the 63rd Anti-tank Regiment (QOOH) Peter Vernon Hornsby Service No - 1460645 I have obtained his military service record from the MOD, which says that he enrolled 1st May 1939 but was discharged (unfit for service) on the 18th June 1940. I also know that his service was 'home' I understand this to be Home Defence Duties and think that this was in Warwickshire. I am trying to find out what happened to him for him to be discharged, as he must have then been unwell until his death in St David's Home, Ealing, in1945, but have so far not been able to find anything. Any advice would be appreciated. Does anyone also know what general duties he may have done whilst in service? Many thanks in advance! Karen
Medical records are notoriously difficult to get hold of. If he was not fit enough for military service he may have been a firewatcher? or something similar
