He was the son of Abram A. and Anna (Neufeld) Penner who homesteaded SW34-18-12-W3 at Beaver Flat before moving to a farm north of Gouldtown. William attended Roland school and was farming with his family when he enlisted at Regina in 1943. He was discharged the next year with myocarditis and died two years after that from heart failure.
