I am researching Private Joseph Frederick Kinchlea 6153476 The Parachute Regiment A.A.C. 5th btn. DOD 13/04/1944 Age 20. He is buried at the Cassino War Cemetery Grave ref IG10 there is a photo of his gravestone on this forum. He was the son of Joseph James & Susan Annie Kinchlea of Hackney. He is commemorated on a war memorial in Hindle House Arcola Street Hackney London E8. I have done a little research about Monte Cassino and he seems to have died between the 3rd and 4th battle? I would appreciate any further information on Joseph including photographs and contact with his relatives.
    Thanks
    Natalie.

    Hello Natalie
Joseph Kinchlea was my uncle. He had 2 sisters, Annie and Lily. Annie is now dead, Lily is my mother and is 88 years old.
How else may I help you?
May I ask why you are doing this research?
    Regards
    Carol

    Hi Carol,
Thanks for replying to this post it is so good to hear from you. I am researching Joseph Kinchlea as part of a project based on the civic funded war memorial at Hindle House Arcola Street E8 on which Joseph is remembered. My husband's great uncle is also listed on it and my husband's great grandmother was one of the ladies responsible for raising the funds and getting the memorial made. Joseph would have lived in the vicinity, possibly in Hindle House itself and maybe went to Shacklewell School. If you look at our facebook page it will tell you all about the project and you will see Joseph's name on the plaque which we are having restored. Please reply to me as I would love to talk to you and find out more about Joseph and his family, you can send me a personal message if you prefer.

    Hello Natalie
I never knew Joey so I don't know an awful lot about him, but can ask my mother. I am pretty sure that he lived in Hindle House. Certainly his 2 sisters and my Grandmother did and I stayed there myself often ( but that was after the end of the war). My mother seems to have just one photograph of him, in his uniform, but I will ask my uncle ( Joey's brother in law) if he has any photographs.

How do I reply to you in a private message?

    Regards
