Hello Rob, It has the look of the East Yorkshire Regiment cap badge, but I am not yet convinced that it is... Best, Steve.
I don't believe it is East Yorkshire Regiment, as the scroll finishes/links on the third point of the star in its badge. The Worcestershire Regiment therefore looks favourite. That said, the 1881 to 1922 Cheshire Regiment cap badge is also remarkably similar (it has an acorn and oak leaves at its centre). Do we know what date the photograph relates to? I can't identify anything that makes matters conclusive! Best, Steve. Edit: Went out for a takeaway and find that Kyle beat me to the Cheshire Regiment.
Any clues in the way his puttees are wound? I remember a pre-war regular telling me years ago that his Regt was the 20th of foot so they wound their puttees to show 2 crosses (XX).
Rob, it might make it a bit easier if you could make the images copyable. The image seems to be quite good resolution. Of course there may be reasons why you need to protect the image but if members could copy it and try to manipulate it a bit details like the cap badge and shoulder title might be more easily readable. Any ideas about the lanyard on left shoulder? Pretty standard I know but it could give some clues.
This is all i have i'am afraid, no details at all Mike is the image not copyable from here? it comes from my Fliker page Many thanks again to you all for your help Rob
you should be able to copy them, when you enlarge an attachment isnt there a SAVE icon in bottom right hand corner of image?
Bugger, you are right as usual O. Hadn't noticed the save icon. Usually just right click on the image. Ta.
Hi, The 2 wound stripes make it a WW1 - post 1916 - photo. You may consider posting on GWF (feigns shock horror!). Regards Steve Y
