    Morning,

For some reason I am unable to post photographs into a reply.

Am I missing something or just plain dumb !!

    Regards,

    Graeme

The function has been disabled temporarily while the I.T. chap is preparing the board for its new incarnation. In the meantime, image hosting sites like photobucket are an option.

Just to remind members you can still add images to your posts using image hosting sites such as Photobucket , Flickr. Imageshack etc etc
Lots of members are doing that.

Any idea of the timescale for resumption of normal service for posting photos? I don't have any image sharing accounts.

I opened a Flikr account to make posting images to the forum easier. I had hoped that the images would show in the thread I was posting to (local war memorials in this case) but instead all that shows are hyperlinks to my Flikr album. Doesn't seem to matter which way I try to post (pasting links direct, using the insert image button and pasting url etc). Anyone point out what I'm doing wrong? Or is this just the new forum software bedding in?
    Cheers.

I haven't looked at how Flickr stuff embeds for a long time.
Seem to recall it was rather proprietary and wanted to always direct clicks back to Flickr, but will have a shufti later to see what's what.

The gallery/media thing here looks like a decent piece of software with all the sharing options I use from photobucket, but it still isn't set up quite right regarding permissions, limits etc.
Hoping to have it in better shape within the week.

Just realised that these pics did not actually come from my gallery but ere picked up from other sources.

But certainly no hassle in uploading.

Most of these posts including the initial are from July 29th when postings of photos were held up.

They are/were?? (not now) for some reason all showing as new posts.

    Cheers

Cheers VP. I might give the gallery function a go. I used to upload direct from my iPad but I think the file size is too large on the new forum.

    I say again, chaps:

File size is awaiting word from the boss on what I can realistically allow.
There is a lot of storage available, but the growth of the previous gallery setup showed just how fast that can be gobbled up.
Allowed file & storage sizes will almost certainly get bigger, but it's still good practice to endeavour to keep original filesize within a reasonable range.
(People have sent scans in the past weighing in at 36MB, which with a bit of tweaking have been reduced to well under 1MB with no immediately discernible loss of on-screen quality.)
