    Good morning all,

I am trying to track down some information relating to my grandfather. I don't have much to go as he passed away when I was still in my teens.

I have vague memories of him saying he was in North Africa, Italy and Egypt.

His full name is Christian John Fouche Brummer (born 1916-10-14) I have seen some material of a Seargent CJF Brummer service number 237460 but thats really all I have to go on, I know its very little but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Rusty

Thank you, but that is my SIL and the information there came from me.

And that really is the extent of what I know about him.

    Appreciate the response though Bedee.

Find my past lists 2 x Brummer with same army number. CJF is listed as POW Italy dated 1943, rank Sgt, Union defence force. The other is a Pte C.J. of 1 South Africa Military Police. C.J. = Cornelius Johannes. He was captured Tobruk 21/6/42 Escaped or Liberated PG146/4, 9/9/43 arrived Switzerland 25/3/44. Maybe connected?

He was taken as POW in the fall of Tobruk along with many others. There are per.sonal memoirs by several captured at the same time

If your path takes you to the South African Archives two of us have used:
Our requests were for formation War Diaries etc, not individuals. If the SA Archives procedures are not online, he will tell you.
