Sorry to be a bit dim, but can you explain what this is to me?

FMP = Find My Past - its a subscription site for genealogists and one of the databases on there which is searchable is the Attestation books for 1936 for all those who enlisted in the Royal Artillery in that year

Ah, thank you, yes find my past, of course. Silly me. What do the letters in red mean in the last column?

Not 100% sure but I think it is Coast Defence/AntiAircraft.

Ive been scouring the internet for any small piece of information, and I've found a first hand written account of another man who served in the same regiment as my grandad so that has given me a little insight into what he may have been doing during his time serving. There was also a photograph of everyone in the regiment, but unfortunately it is too low-res for me to see any faces clearly, which is a real shame.
Also I read on another site, that the raf 236 maintenance unit occupied Grafton Underwood airfield after the war, which matches the date on his injury report.

The assumptions you are making are that he stayed with that unit in the places other people say it was - your relative may only have been in that unit for a few months before being tranferred to another - suggest you re read post no 4

I completely understand the urge to start research at once, because that's exactly what I felt, but in hindsight some of the things I was delving into proved to be detours along winding tracks that my grandfather never took.

The only logical first step is to apply for his records; it will unlock half a dozen other options once you have them.
