This is a photo showing Hitler when he was visiting the Scharnhorst. In the photo he is surrounded by admirals, political and SS officers. Scharnhorst was a German capital ship, alternatively described as a battleship of Nazi Germany’s Kriegsmarine. She was the lead ship of her class, which included her sister ship Gneisenau. The ship was built at the Kriegsmarinewerft dockyard in Wilhelmshaven. she was laid down on 15 June 1935 and launched a year and four months later on 3 October 1936. Completed in January 1939, the ship was armed with a main battery of nine 28 cm (11 in) C/34 guns in three triple turrets. photo was taken in 1939. Photo from my collection

Very similar appearance to as seen here...

    MaritimeQuest - Scharnhorst Page 2

"Adolf Hitler seen onboard Scharnhorst, possibly taken April 1, 1939 at Wilhelmshaven just before Erich Raeder was promoted to Grossadmiral."

Can you see his earlobes? I did half wonder whether or not this might potentially have been one of Hitler's numerous "doubles" on a "day out". The "April 1st" date too - only making me try to take a closer look. Though it is always hard to see beyond the mustache, it just makes the "main impression" perhaps. And they did presumably too use standins for "rehearsals" etc. for "main events".

Edit - hitler's official doubles - Penelusuran Google

Although some of the "google links above" are unofficial perhaps i.e. ;-)

Edit2 - as an aside, I wasn't actually sure if the Germans and April 1st - was a "thing" - but apparently...

The tradition of the “April joke”
On 1 April, Germans make fools of one another with tall stories.
