Hi Dave & All, Bloody hell mate you keep this up and we will all be coming to you for 2 Para inform... Well done and great work and indeed we do need to meet up Me Ol China Tom Thanks for the compliment Tom, but I'm miles behind you guys
One minor fact Ive found out today is that, the day before the battalion left for France, they spent the day swimming in the Canning Town Lido which was adjacent to their transit camp. This is the very same lido that my grandad and nan use to take me and my brother swimming as it was very close to there home. Im sure those visit there must have brought back many memories, but yet again he never let on. Now looking for a photograph of the lido of around that time and the transit camp.

Indeed! I bet the young ladies of Lincolnshire could testify to that fact! In fact in "From Delhi to Arnhem" (156 Para) there is mention of a member of the Battalion who was dating a young lady by the name of Margaret Roberts shortly before going to Arnhem. Miss Roberts went on to become Mrs. Margaret Thatcher! How history might have been so different!! ...........
