    Paul,

The authors are (at the moment) contracted to your old friends in Barnsley so regretfully it will probably not be of the quality of a Sigmond publication....

I sent copies of the original photo and our 'then and now' to the museum at the time of our 2003 visit and was in touch with Luuk about the GPR at the same time. I also have Des Turner's contemporary account from our school magazine 'The Clavian'. It would be nice to do another recreation on our 2009 tour. I am also hoping to take the lads down to the Assault Glider project in Shropshire before next year's trip. Another BGS old boy, Harry Parkinson, was coincidentally a member of F Squadron GPR. He was killed in a strafing attack by a FW190. He is buried at Oosterbeek but unfortunately I know little about him, and don't even have a photo. I don't think Des Turner knew him as he was under the impression that he was the only old boy at Arnhem. Another lad was killed near Nijmegen with the XXX Corps artillery and is buried at Jonkerbos.
    Mark,
It would appear Harry P was first buried in the Sonnenberg area and I seem to recall I have a comment from a medic who was in Oosterbeek with some GP's and they were attacked by enemy aircraft and some were killed...but I'd need to find it in my archives and see if it helps.....I'll report back!

Any further news on the Hartenstein Museum or the release date for Mike Peters's book?
Philip, could you pm me with contact details for Luuk?

Not from ,me till so far only have seen negative news about the new museum, and from what I can see from the photographs can't blame them, nothinh like the old one.

My friends going to Arnhem shortly, I'll send him to the Museum to take some pics et al, to me it looks horribly 'generic' I heard wonderful things about the old museum but... meh.

The best museum I've seen was the one at Tilly-sur-Seuilles, quiet, evocative and packed of fantastic stuff. I did work experience in a museum and we always tried to avoid how 'generic' this looks... (from the photos I stress..)

youre not alone on this, a new face was good for the museum, but this has gone to far.

I spoke to a Dutch friend of mine today who lives about a 20 minute drive from Oosterbeek. He visited the old museum many times and a few days ago he went to the 'new' one. Sadly he says that, in his opinion, it has been ruined and he has vowed never to go back again. I know that this is only one person's view and I shall wait until I see it for myself before I pass judgement but from what I'm hearing "through the grapevine" it doesn't bode well. :(
