ah good point, so SB is a bird who served in Desert Storm ? This thread is better than an episode of Columbo
Hello again all guessers, I hoped to learn a lot by joining this forum, but didn't realise I would learn so much by posting what I thought was an innocent introduction of myself. Firstly, my nickname was chosen without any careful consideration. But I am indeed familiar with that form of aviation humour. Benign part of the culture. Gage: Thank you for your book recommendation. It's definitely on my list. For my British vacation I still have RAF Hendon and IWM to enjoy. (And the SOE monument on the Albert Embankment.) Any special recommendations ?
Oh dear ! What my father did during the war wasn't THAT controversial ! It was worth a shot then im gonna have to say Norwegian or Belgian
So then I will class you a good shot. Case closed. Well then; any special recommendations for the RAF museum (1 full day) and the IWM (2 full days ) ?
So then I will class you a good shot. Case closed. Well then; any special recommendations for the RAF museum (1 full day) and the IWM (2 full days ) ? Two days in the IWM photo archive would put you well on the way to finding out what's there. I think that you'll find an essentially British focus. Are you interested in the hardware or the history ?
So then I will class you a good shot. Case closed. Well then; any special recommendations for the RAF museum (1 full day) and the IWM (2 full days ) ? A good full day at Hendon should cover it for the most part. Have a look at the links might help you plan your day/days Museums in London, Tourist Attraction London, RAF Museum Hendon Royal Air Force Museum Hendon IWM Welcome to the Imperial War Museum
If you can get up to IWM Duxford then that's also worth thinking about. IWM Duxford - Europe's premier aviation museum
Thank you all. Special interest areas include BoB and everything Spitfire-related. Clandestine operations in Nazi-occupied Europe, and the resistance orginisations peforming and supporting these. Generally history over hardware, but Spitfire-hardware indeed ! Have visited both RAF Hendon and IWM before and explored their homepages.
"Clandestine operations in Nazi occupied Europe" see Gage's link at the bottom of his post a few above this one.
