Hello, I am not sure if this thread is still in use. I believe that Douglas Mullock may be my great grandfather. Abs wondered where this information came from? As I have been struggling to find much about him to confirm.

    Dave,
I have taken the liberty of forwarding a copy of the signature of the Guard to Anja's Father who was 10 years old when WW2 ended and can better read old German handwriting as he learned it at school.
As soon as I get a reply I will post it.
    Regards
    Tom

    David,
Anja's Father sent me this reply tonight. Looks like his name was Kurt Rakuschan.
"Zu Deiner Frage nach dem Namen des Obergefreiten glaube ich folgendes:
In Süddeutschland gibt es eine Firma mit dem Namen Kurt Rakuschan"
This ties in with an earlier post and perhaps the firm in South Germany is related to the Guard.
    Hope this help's you.
    Regards
    Tom

  8. Lindele

    Lindele formerly HA96

The first name of the guard was most likely not Markus. Markus is a German name of the 1960/70tees. not 1900 to 1920.
    Stefan.

    Denisart,

Thanks for the update, although David Layne has not logged in since January 2026 I will alert him to you post.

Is your grandfather's role known to him? I have only glanced at David's website.

  16. I don't have any other informations about this
    two paratroopers.
I heard my family talk about how my grandfather took risks to hide those two paratroopers.
Nice to see he has a long life. My grandfather passed at 36 years old only...just after the war end
