I’m heading to Noyers-Bocage in July to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Pomegranate, where my grandfather was injured/reported missing whilst serving in the 2/6th South Staffordshire Regiment,. I’ve been able to obtain the regiments War Diary from July 1944, so have a rough idea of landmarks, but much of the village was decimated. A long shot, but would anybody happen to know the exact location of where train station once stood, or know any more detail about the knocked out Panther tank in this photo at all please?

If you've not seen it before Tom there is quite a bit of film footage from Operation Pomegranate that you can view online held by the Imperial War Museum Collections (the first three within this search link list for example) Find an object | Imperial War Museums Wishing you good fortune on your trip. Kind regards, always, Jim.
Morning Tim, You wouldn't be willing to share the WD for July and August would you ? I have several men on the Walsall RoH I've been trying to find the WD for. Many thanks, Graeme
Hope these pages will add something to your trip for you Tim (not dug this out for a few years, for Chindits and Burma, or maybe an Arnhem thread). Please excuse intrusion of bookmark, and quality of photos, hopefully they are good enough for "larging up" and reading the text. Published September 1945, "Your Men in Battle - The South Staffordshire Regiment 1939 - 1945"; Pages regarding Noyers. Kind regards, always, Jim.
