I wonder if any one can give me a link or info about the
Northumberland Fusiliers? According to my mother my late father was attached to them in WWII and drove a flame throwing Brengun Carrier. He is also credited with helping to liberate Belsen and a few other places of atrocities.

Sadly I never had a relationship with him and he never spoke of his service... Does it matter no but I'd like to think he wasn't all bad........

    Thanks

Apologies if you've seen them before but here's some links:

    Museum:
    The Fusilier's Museum of Northumberland

    Regiments.org:
    The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers [UK]

    Some peoples war accounts:
    BBC - WW2 People's War - Shedding Light:410 Coy 5th Royal Northumberland Fusiliers ( 53.S/L Regt. RA)
BBC - WW2 People's War - Norman Pennington, Northumberland Fusiliers

If you go to IWM collections
IWM Collections Online: Search Photographs Archive
and search for Belsen, there's an excellent series on the liberation which ends with the camp being burnt, haven't found the picture I'm thinking of yet but I'm sure the final destruction of the huts was carried out by 'wasp' Carrier based flamethrowers, which could fit the story.

    Cheers, (and good luck)
    Adam.
