    Hi.
Can anyone tell me the location of No8 RAF general hospital in Brussels. I know the date it moved from Bayeux to Brussels but not the location.
Also 53rd field hospital. I can only locate an American field hospital in Belgium in November 1944. Anyone know of a British field hospital, or would an American treat an injured Brit.
    Cheers

Hi Dubman - I just saw your 2016 post above, my dad was with No 8 RAF General Hospital in August 1944 in Bayeux then to Brussells in September 1944. Are you able to share any information about where it was, how big it was, was a mobile tent hospital or did they occupy buildings? Any info would be welcome. Thanks

Hi TD - thank you - this is what I wrote to Drew.
    Hi Drew,
I am new to WW2 and the National Archives, I live on the East Coast of the US in Conneciticut. I am researching my dad's WWII history and I have just received his RAF Records. One of the guys on WW2 advised me to either contact The National Archives (which I have done) or alternatively he said I could contact you ( a fellow member) who provided a copying service. What does this mean exactly? If I give you the Air Reference # that you already have the data and will send it for a fee? I am happy to pay if that is what he means. For example I have found on the National Archives site a list of Air References, one being for No 8 RAF Hospital when they sent from RAF Aston Down to Bayeux on 22 August 1944 - AIR 29/767/2. The site states it is not digitized so I am interested in how you obtain a copy? I am interested in any and all information like how did they get to France, where did they land, was the hospital a tent city or in a building, all of this info.
Are you able to help me with any of these questions? I would appreciate it. I ave attached an archive extract if that helps.
    Thank you. Noel Mara

I don't think any of the members who provide copying assistance are operating currently due to access issues at TNA due to Covid restrictions, but the two members whose services I have used are: Drew5233 PsyWar.Org. They both provide an excellent service at a very economical price, usually charged per page.

You may also be in a better position if you post a query in your own thread, as a member may already have a copy of the file you seek and may be willing to assist you.

You have provided 1 reference from TNA - AIR 29/767/2 but there is the second one, have you provided this to Drew? - AIR 29/4156, they both refer to No8 RAF General Hospital - best to make sure if you can that all the files you might need are covered

It did carry on as a Hospital if you are interested -
    Reference: AIR 29/4158
    Description:
RAF Hospital BAFO, BAOR Rinteln (title was No 8 RAF General Hospital until August 1949)
    Date: 1945 Sept-1950 Dec

Hi - Many changes in my personal life and restrictions at the Archives means I'll only be visiting once their service returns to normal. I'm not expecting to be visiting before July at the earliest at the moment. Possibly even later in the year.
