Hi all, just wondering if anybody out may have info, leads or a link to the subject matter, I noticed in their war diary that a photo was taken of the officers and men of the company just before they set sail for Norway on Operation Avonmouth, the defence of Norway from the invading Germans. My grandfather, Pte Thomas Hall, originally from Cwmbran, South Wales was with the unit, attached from the 2nd Monmouthshire Regt., he was wounded at Bodo, Norway on 22nd May’40 after a bombing/strafing run by German aircraft on their position, killing 2 and injuring 8 others, inc my GF. Just wondering if this photo has survived, would dearly like to see it, there is one of the unit in Oct’40, that’s on the Commando website, but only a few soldiers, that inc Sgt Tom Durrant, of HMS Campeltown and Operation Chariot when he was with No.1 Commando, another unit my GF was in. Fingers crossed somewhere out there knows about it, have tried Twitter and currently trying the National Archives and IWM. Thanks in advance and all the best. #BeSafe. upload_2020-4-11_10-59-21.jpeg
