We have published a new article on the defeat by Eighth Army's effort to cut off the retreat of Axis forces at Beda Fomm on 23 December 1941 during Operation CRUSADER.

New Article – Failure at Beda Fomm, 23 Dec 1941

The article was triggered by a discussion on the fate of Gunner S. Cutcliffe of 51st Field here on the forum. 900385 Gunner Samuel Cutcliffe . 51 Fd Regt RA . 23.12.1941

While looking into it, I noted that this day saw the Afrika-Korps overrun a column of the Coldstream Guards just east of Beda Fomm, they then pushed back 3 R.T.R. and briefly reoccupied Antelat, thus ensuring that the Via Balbia stayed open for the retreating German and Italian formations coming from Benghazi.

This is paid-for content (£4 as a one-off), so here is a sample.

I have applied to the British Library for an ISSN, as I want to turn this into a more regular feature on the blog, ideally providing one of these quarterly.

    Feedback more than welcome.

    All the best
