Hello and welcome Gerard. The Moderators may consider this a "follow on" from your initial thread and merge, however, in response, there does not appear to be any record of a JAD Meechan either being killed or captured as a Prisoner of War.
Peter has given you a crash landing of a Typhoon on the date you mention.
247 Squadron also lost another aircraft the day previously, in which the pilot was killed, but not the name you appear to have from local records.

Name: WALKER-LUTZ, ROBERT WILLIAM. Rank: Flying Officer (Pilot)
Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Unit Text: 247 Sqdn.
Age: 23. Date of Death: 21/09/1944. Service No: 141363
Additional information: Son of Eugen Christian Lutz and Ellen Mary Ann Lutz, of Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire.
Grave/Memorial Reference: Plot 4. Grave 309. Cemetery: APELDOORN (UGCHELEN-HEIDEHOF) GENERAL CEMETERY
2 days later, they lost another pilot
Name: LLOYD, IOAN ARNOLD. Rank: Flight Sergeant (Pilot)
Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Unit Text: 247 Sqdn.
Age: 21. Date of Death: 24/09/1944. Service No: 931856
Additional information: Son of John Thomas Lloyd and Edith Lloyd, of Bushy Park, Jamaica.
Grave/Memorial Reference: 31. G. 18. Cemetery: REICHSWALD FOREST WAR CEMETERY

Peter may be able to provide the initial crash sites for these aircraft, but until then, it looks as if, on 22nd September, the pilot survived, especially as you mention that this was the day your village was liberated, so he could easily have made it back into Allied territory and rejoin his Squadron.
    I hope that helps!

Hi, I have only just found this site. John Alan dyce Meechan (Jack) survived the crash in Asten holland, along with meny other, all ways returning to blighty for a pint in the pub. Jack died in 2001, but I am sure his son will be able to give you all the details regarding this crash. So, if you are still looking for information please contact me.

    Regards
    Erikab
