Quote: "Meanwhile Haydon was approached with the request to send his forces (from Hook of Holland) to join the fight against the German paratroopers landed at Rotterdam . The Brit refused, as he would not allow endangering the lives of his men.
Moments later he would also dismiss the request to send his troops to Amsterdam. "

    Right. :indexCAXI2NHN:

Stolpi, I appreciate your comments. If I gave any other impression, I apologize. It must be my poor English. But trust me, I considered your remarks as very valuable!

On the other issue of selected points of concentration. Isn't that the case in basically all battle circumstances? The manoeuvring with forces to probe the defences and exploiting on weak points was a feature of German tactical practise all along. The genuine Blitzkrieg strategy was based on that very aspect, of concentration of force and power, in all dimensions, and out manoeuvring the opposing forces ahead of their tactical and strategic reserves. That was not an issue specific for the Dutch theatre, not at all. On the contrary, the Dutch chose to defend the south with only weak forces in order to concentrate defences in the fortified northwest of the country.

Arnhem, I am sorry, but you are wrong and inaccurate on so many points, that I wouldn't know where to start polishing your "knowledge". But you could give it all a head start by tuning down a notch or two. Perhaps you are not as knowledgable as you may think ...

I read this fragment in this "Nederlands May 1940".: "Next to the remainders of the 60th and 68th Division many fractions of other units were presented in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Some organised companies or sections of Dutch troops from 38RI and 40RI as well as other smaller units and some Belgian units of the 1st and 2nd Cavalry Division. Also the notorious Belgian "Ardense Jagers" arrived, an elite fighting unit that apart from elite fighting skills proved to be raw men with little civilization. Their trail through Zeeuws-Vlaanderen was easy to follow by the rampage and looting of villages. Nearby were the 2.GRCA of the Group Lestoquoi - a reconnaissance brigade - and the quite strong French 25.DIM, that was deployed west of St. Niklaas.".
Belgian troops looting Zeeuws Vlaanderen. Who is that bloody person who dares to write this bullshit. The Dutch fought 4 days against "3 Welle" German troops. The Belgian 18 days againtst mostly 1. Welle troops. Small units Ardense Jagers blocked Erwin Rommels troops for a full day (10 May) and in the vicinity of Aalst Ardense Jagers made the retreat of the BEF troops possible.
