Petty Officer Airman. H.M.S Owl. FX86991, 25/11/1944. Didcock, Albert Harold. Able Seaman. H.M.S Fiona. D/J106928, 18/4/1941. Beecham, John Arthur. Petty Officer. H.M.L.C.I.(L) 132. D/KX155277. 17/06/1944. Talbot, Edgar Reginald. Able Seaman. H.M.S. Dunedin. P/JX 161371. 24/11/1941 Woodman, Edward John Humphrey. Able Seaman. H.M. Submarine Unique. Beecham, John Arthur. Petty Officer. H.M.L.C.I.(L) 132. D/KX155277. 17/06/1944. His Majesty's Landing Craft Infantry 132 was invloved in Operation Brassard - the invasion of Elba. It was hit whilst on Green Beach and sank. Your man was probably one of those killed. Woodman, Edward John Humphrey. Able Seaman. H.M. Submarine Unique. C/SSX26124 HMS Unique 10 October 1942 Possibly depth charged off northern Spain HMS Unique left Holy Loch for a patrol in the Bay of Biscay on 7th October 1942. She left her escort off the Scillies on the 9th. No more was seen or heard from her after that date. HMS Ursula was in the area on the 10th and reported hearing underwater explosions that led her to believe Unique was under attack although the Germans made no claims to her sinking. There are several photos and plans of these ships in "British Standard Ships of World War 1" by W. H. Mitchell and L. A. Sawyer published by The Journal of Commerce. Built 1918 as the WAR MASTIFF, she became the BIELA for Lamport & Hold Ltd in 1919. On 15.2.42 she was torpedoed and sunk by the U.98 (Gysae) while 400 miles SW of Cape Race in position 42.55N 45.40W while sailing independently from Liverpool to Buenos Aires with general cargo, dispersed from convoy ON 62. The Master, Capt.D. Anderson, 43 crew and 5 gunners were lost. The U.98 was sunk with all hands on 15.11.42 by HMS WRESTLER while 90 miles off the Spanish coast.

Not sure if you’re still looking for info on John Arthur Beecham, he was my uncle. I have been researching him also. He would have been 100 last week 5/5/2022.
